Print Technical Information

Film and Process: I am still addicted to fine grain transparency film. My choice of film is Fuji’s Velvia ASA 50 and 100. I scan the film through a Nikon 9000 scanner, fine tune the images in Photoshop, and produce the final print using Epson printers, papers and archival inks. I take, print, and matte the images myself in order to achieve the consistency and quality I am after in a finished print.

Prints: I produce my prints on Epson ink jet printers using archival quality inks and paper with a 100-year color fast guarantee if kept under glass out of direct sunlight.

Mattes: All the material I use is of archival quality and buffered to a pH 8.3(neutral). The matte is 8-ply pure white, cotton rag board, which is twice the thickness of regular matte board. The print is hung from a 3/8” foam core backing board.

Frames: I stock the narrow Neilsen aluminum frames in matte black. These are great frames that are elegant and strong. I do not ship glass because of the difficulty and high cost of packaging. All you need do is order the appropriate piece of glass from your local framing shop or hardware store, clean it well, and slip it into the frame.
